The Dog And Gun Inn

Our first visit to The Dog & Gun and what a lovely place, the restaurant was very quaint with a nice warm welcome and feel to the place. The staff are very friendly and attentive, we requested a table near the window so we could see our vehicle as had our dogs with us, we had a perfect table in the corner. The menu was really nice and the food was delicious and piping hot, plates were also warm. We would 100% recommend this restaurant as it’s certainly up there in our top 5 recommendations for a super special occasion or even if your just big foodies like us. We can’t wait to return.

We had a lovely evening. The food was amazing the only slight feedback we had was with the smoked potato terrine course we found this quite bland and unsure if the blackcurrant matched with the coldness of the potato. Other than that everything was delicious my favourite was steamed cod loin.

We booked in advance for the taster menu, one normal and one pescatarian option. When we got there the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was all amazing and the chef was deciding what to change the main course to substitute the beef for something else which was really special to know I was having something created on the fly by the chef. The stand out dishes were the scallop, cheese soufflé with black truffle and the mille-feuille dessert which I would highly recommend. We also ordered the wine pairing and when the staff missed the parking for one dish they were quick to apologise and sort things out and compensate which was a nice touch. Service charge is not included in the price and they can't add gratuity on to the card so if you want to tip do take some cash with you. The taster menu was £89 which for 10 course was really reasonable and very filling. I would highly recommend a visit .

Wonderful meal to celebrate our pearl anniversary, complimentary glass of fizz to start (thank you). Everything was delicious from start to finish and a box of petit fours to take home. They certainly deserve their Michelin star. Three course meal for £69 very reasonable for the quality of the food. We pre-booked a dog friendly table. We ate souffle and pasta for starters, hogget for main & tart and creme brulee for dessert.

Really enjoyed a recent meal here for a birthday celebration. Nice old style pub with amazing food and service. Highly recommend the venison pudding and scallops! Look forward to coming back soon

Quiet village pub with a Michelin star heart. We walked in and felt very welcome. We decided to try the 10 course taster menu. Absolutely blown away by the food. Everything was perfect! The herb fed chicken with mushroom purée and their take on a coronation croquette were worth a mention from the main courses. The poached apricot with peach liquor and apricot iced cream was hands down the nicest dessert ever! 100% worth a visit. Excellent value for money for what you get.

Lovely pub with a great tasting menu. The wine pairing was particularly good, the standout was a Spanish vermouth with the tiramisu. Dog friendly was a real bonus.

My partner and I visited for her birthday recently and were blown away by the quality in both food and service of the staff and the Dog & Gun Inn. The vibe here is a perfect combination of relaxed and high quality food from the surrounding area. Where to start with the food..? My partner convinced me to join her with the tasting menu, as I was concerned there might not be enough to fill me up , thank god I was wrong. Every single dish was amazing with personal highlights of the Lamb Bhuna and the Dover Sole . Added bonus of being able to bring our dog along with us (Tell me another Michelin star restaurant where you can do that ) who was made to feel welcome by the staff and relaxed the whole evening. Thank you again D&G for making the birthday celebrations very memorable. We will certainly be back to visit again in the future
